Investigation Team
The Investigation Section handles criminal investigations that occur on University property and administrative investigations for other units on campus, including personnel and background inquires.  Investigators handle a wide variety of criminal cases including: burglaries, thefts, robberies, sexual assaults, drug investigations, workplace violence incidents, and various types of computer and financial crimes such as forgery, internal thefts, and financial identity theft. Over the past year the Investigation Section received numerous complaints of debit card fraud against banking and credit card institutions.  Several of the investigations were linked to common suspects who received attention by the federal prosecutor’s office. Lesser cases were handled at the state prosecutor’s level. Investigators are also called upon to testify in court and at student discipline hearings, and they provide plainclothes support for special events and VIP protection.  Investigators are available for callback on a rotating basis for incidents which occur after hours where an investigator is needed.  In addition, investigators are charged with gathering intelligence, including partnering with other law enforcement agencies about terrorist type activities that may affect the University.
