Safety programs and presentations 

The Division of Public Safety encourages faculty, staff, and students to take proactive steps to enhance their safety. We offer the following programs to educate the campus community in personal crime prevention strategies to reduce the likelihood of crime on and off campus. Most of these programs are offered free of charge, there is a nominal fee for RAD courses for program materials.

General Overview of Campus Crime

This program is an introduction to the "goings on" of the Campus. During this program we will cover the area Law Enforcement agencies and how we go about business. It will also cover the most common types of problems we have on the campus and some tips on how to avoid becoming a victim.

Rape Aggression Defense (RAD)

The Rape Aggression Defense System is a program of realistic, self-defense tactics and techniques. The RAD System is a comprehensive course for women that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training. RAD is not a Martial Arts program. Our courses are taught by certified RAD Instructors and provide you with a workbook and reference manual. This manual outlines the entire Physical Defense Program for reference and continuous personal growth. There is a $15 fee for this program to cover the cost of the manual.


Bike/Pedestrian Safety Program

This program focuses on proper fit for your bike, rules of the road, and riding techniques for campus and the surrounding area. This program also covers is laws that pertain to pedestrians.

Office Safety and Security Program

This program provides Safety and Security tips for your office or personal workspace.

New Employee/Student Orientations

This program is offered to any organization who wishes to provide safety and crime prevention information to any new employee or student. Currently our department is involved in the summer orientation for all incoming freshman.

Residence Hall Security Program

This program is provided for any student who has the unique experience of living in the residence hall. Information about the types of problems that occur in the residence hall is covered along with safety and security tips for residence hall life.

The Law and You

During this presentation, we will discuss guidelines for interacting with Law Enforcement Officials.
