The Office of Campus Risk Management is responsible for administering a comprehensive risk management program designed to protect the varied interests of the University, as well as the students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Campus Risk Management works closely with members of the campus and community to proactively address risk management issues and integrate the principles of risk management into the daily operations of the University.

Campus Risk Manager

Mark Briggs joined the Division in 2000, coming to the University with extensive experience in the risk management consulting and insurance industries. Mark owned and operated a safety and risk management consultancy full-time for seven years, after having worked in the insurance industry for 11 years. He is a graduate of the health sciences/safety program at Illinois State University and has earned the professional designations of Associate in Risk Management and Certified Safety Professional. Mark is an active member of several national associations, including the University Risk Management and Insurance Association, the Risk and Insurance Management Society, and the American Society of Safety Engineers. He currently serves on the board of two of these groups. He is also serving as a board member for the Eastern Illinois Safety Network. Mark works with the campus community, including administration, faculty, staff, and students, to proactively manage the risks associated with the operation of the University.
