How to Join Our Team
The University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign accepts applications for entry-level police officer testing once a year. The application process for this year is open until April 19, 2012. You can visit the Staff Human Resources page for further information.
Minimum Qualifications
Illinois resident- 21 years of age
- High school graduate or GED
- Valid State of Illinois driver's license
- No record of felony convictions
- Physically fit

- Oral board interview
- Placement on Police Officer Eligibility Register
- Hiring Interview
- Background Investigation
- Medical Evaluation
- Psychological assessment
- Pre-employment drug screening
- Hire
- One year probation
- twelve weeks of basic police training at the Police Training Institute
- Seventeen weeks with a field training officer
- Continued training and professional development
